The Islands Trust - Offical Community Plan

Once the OCP is in place we can likely look forward to over 295 bylaw infractions poised to come into effect allowing anonymous complaints that will cost taxpayers dearly as bureaucratic investigations lead to neighbour against neighbour hiring lawyers to defend their very right to live and let live. This is not a community plan, it's a full blown Orwellian doctrine of mistrust for your fellow human beings. What makes islanders so suspect as to need a bigger OCP than Greater Victoria?

Our duly elected trustees should not to be so sanctomonious as to imagine that the dramatic drop in public interest for this OCP is necessarily a green light to go ahead with it, rather, perhaps it’s an indication that it is so overwhelming in its threat to peoples' lifestyles and livilhoods that people other than a few like Mr. Clarke are afraid to even bring it up in private conversation. If all this sounds a little extreme it is a minor pill to swallow compared to how much this plan will empower the Trust, not the individuals in our community.
